Craftsman's Vision
An carving adventure with a 35 year gap
A bit over 40 years ago my mother gave me a Carolina Wren carved and painted by a local artist. I thought I would like to try carving a bird myself. After several attempts I finally made what I felt like was a very good representation of a Common Snipe. However my job and small children forced me to put the hobby aside for 35+ years.
Then along came Covid and I needed something to do. I tried jigsaw puzzles but it wasn't satisfying. I remembered I still had some of my old tools boxed up and dug them out. During the time away from carving there was and continues to be a significant advancements in the realism in the carving world. My goal is to preform at the highest level of artist realism I can achieve, and hopefully each piece is just a little better than the last.
